NACA Promotes Census Awareness

As a 2010 Census partner, NACA hosted a census awareness event on Saturday, May 8th, with efforts to encourage those in the Chinese community to take part in this year’s census. Volunteers passed out census questionnaires, t-shirts, hats and other goodies to passers-by at Royal China Restaurant and Dinghao Supermarket in Chinatown. While most indicated that they had already completed and mailed in their forms earlier this Spring, some had not. Volunteers explained the process, detailing what questions would be asked and the simple process in submitting the form. While participation is required by law, volunteers also explained the importance in filling out the form. Volunteer and NACA Board Member, Olivia Wu, emphasized that completing a census form means benefitting the local community by way of allocating federal funds and gaining necessary resources for our local community to grow.
