NACA Chair Lani Wong Awarded with Legacy Leadership Award

Civility. This year’s theme during the Sixth Annual Spelman College Leadership and Women of Color Conference, hosted on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, was emphasized throughout the banquet by both guest speakers, presenters and honorees. Defined as the act of applying and adhering to an essential set of behaviors and skills that allow us to deal with others with respect and common courtesy, the Legacy of Leadership Awards recognizes individuals and institutions who have made or are continuing to make positive contributions to society and influencing future generations of leaders. Among the four recipients of this accolade was NACA’s own, Lani Wong. To begin the presentation of this award was an International Business student from Spelman College who spent 4 months abroad studying Chinese in Beijing. She introduced Ms. Wong in both Chinese and English to the audience’s delight. Ms. Wong proudly accepted the award, expressing within her speech, the upbringing she received from her parents that emphasized treating those around you as you would like to be treated.

Ms. Wong’s husband, John, as well as several NACA members were also in attendance for this event to support and recognize her achievements.
