NACA Announces its 2013-2014 Board of Directors
The National Association of Chinese-Americans – Atlanta (“NACA”) held its annual meeting on Saturday, June 8th at Sydney Buffet International Seafood and Grill. Over 70 people attended the meeting. NACA’s Acting President, Ms. Hong S. Wills, thanked members, friends and family for their participation and support of NACA during the past year and promised more quality programs and events for the coming year to benefit members and achieve NACA’s missions. Mrs. Lani Wong, Chairwoman of NACA, presented Mrs. Ethel Mar with a plaque, thanking her for her 11 years of service on the board. Mark Hyman Rapaport, MD, Chair of Emory’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, talked to the audience about global mental health issues and the newly established Shanghai Mental Health Center – Emory University Collaborative Center for Global Mental Health. Mr. Henry Yu, Managing Director and Regional Manager, Asian Financial Institutions at Fifth Third Bank, updated the audience on a forum and special briefing he recently attended regarding the White House’s initiative on growing business relationships with Asian economies.
NACA members cast their ballots and elected the following members to serve on the 2013-2014 Board of Directors: Zhenhua (Steven) Gu, Ric Hubler, Brayton Li, Rengen Li, Christina Liao, Ethel Mar, Danny Pian, Liwei Rue, Hong S. Wills, Lani Wong, Wang (Celena) Xu, Connie W. Yip, Elaine Yu, Renan Zhuang and Li Zheng.
Mrs. Lani Wong, a prominent community leader, will continue to serve as Chair. Ms. Hong S. Wills, counsel in the Corporate and International Practices of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, will serve as President. Mr. Steven Gu, CPA in the Mergers & Acquisitions – Tax Department of KPMG LLP, is the Immediate Past President. Mr. Li Zheng, President of Techtop Industries Inc., will serve as Senior Vice President. Mr. Rengen Li, Director of Global Leadership Development at The Coca-Cola Company will serve as Vice President. Ms. Celena Xu, Auditor at Ernst & Young, LLP, will continue to serve as VP -Treasurer. Mr. Renan Zhuang, Director of Economic Analysis of the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council will serve as VP-Secretary. Ms. Connie Yip, a public relations consultant focusing on the promotion of cross-cultural relations and international affairs, will serve as VP-Communications and Assistant Secretary.
Established in 1980, NACA strives to achieve its mission of “bridging cultures, building leaders, and benefiting communities” by organizing and sponsoring activities that promote cultural, educational, scientific and business relations and exchanges between U.S. and China. It also encourages Chinese-Americans to participate in the American political process while preserving their Chinese heritage in the American culture.
全美华人协会成功举行2013年度选举
2013年6月8日，全美华人协会（“NACA”）在Sydney Buffet召开年会，成功选举出了2013-2014年度理事会。超过70人参加了会议。
NACA执行理事长Hong Wills主持会议。她首先感谢了各位会员、家属和朋友对NACA工作的鼎力支持，并承诺在未来的一年中将举办更优质的活动，裨益全体会员，贯彻NACA宗旨。
经会员投票，选举产生了由15名成员组成的新一届理事会。公认的杰出社区领袖李秀兰女士将继续担任全美华人协会主席。Hong Wills女士, Smith, Gambrell & Russell律师事务所公司和国际业务部律师，当选为新一任理事长。前任会长顾振华先生(Steven Gu), 毕马威会计师事务所注册会计师及兼并与收购业务律师，将继续为本届理事会挚诚奉献。Techtop公司总裁Li Zheng博士当选为高级副理事长。可口可乐公司全球领导力发展总监Rengen Li先生担任副理事长。安永会计师事务所审计师Wang (Celena) Xu女士当选为副理事长及财务。美国家禽蛋品出口协会的经济分析总监Renan Zhuang先生担任副理事长及秘书长。国际事务研究顾问葉蕙心女士(Connie Yip) 一位专注于跨文化关系和国际事务的公共关系顾问，将担任负责外联事务的副理事长以及助理秘书长。Christina Liao, Ethel Mar和Elaine Yu也都再次当选。同时，本届理事会还注入了新鲜血液，Ric Hubler, Brayton Li, Danny Pian以及Liwei Rue当选为理事会成员。
这次会议的温馨一刻让人尤其印象深刻：李秀兰主席代表NACA向Ethel Mar女士赠送了牌匾和鲜花，表彰她十一年来作为NACA理事所作的突出贡献。
NACA资深顾问、Fifth Third 银行执行总监余振鸿先生(Henry Yu)上个月受邀赴白宫参加了“亚洲经济关系发展论坛”。在选举年会上，他专程为NACA成员做了关于这次亚洲经济关系论坛的特别报告。
Emory大学精神病学和行为科学系主席Mark Hyman Rapaport博士也出席了本次会议。他就全球精神健康问题发表了专题演说，并重点介绍了新成立的上海精神卫生中心- Emory大学全球精神卫生合作中心。
自从1980年成立以来，NACA一直致力于“架构文化桥梁、培养未来领导、回馈造福社区”三大宗旨。通过组织和赞助各项活动，NACA积极促进了中美之间文化、教育、科技和商业等多方面的交流。同时，NACA还鼓励华人参与美国政治进程，努力弘扬中华文化。
