Hello, China: Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

NACA proudly co-sponsored “Hello, China,” a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, from September 23rd to 24th. This two-day National Day event celebration consisted of an arts performance show on the 23rd at Perimeter Church in Duluth and an anniversary celebration banquet at the Marriot Hotel at the Atlanta Century Center on the 24th.

The “Hello, China” performance showcased Chinese song and dance from local talent of all ages as well as featured groups originating from the Chinese city of Tianjin. Traditional songs, dances that presented vibrant costumes and music that focused on age-old Chinese instruments such as the “erhu” and “suona” were a delight to the audience.

Following this day, more than two hundred people attended the “Hello, China” banquet on the 24th, to continue the festivities. Congratulating remarks were given from the General Consul of China in Houston, Ms. Gao Yan Ping, Georgia Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and former President Jimmy Carter. Stephanie Stuckey Benfield, who attended on behalf of Governor Sunny Purdue, presented the Proclamation issued on September 16th which proclaimed October 1, 2009 as China’s National Day in Georgia. City Councilman Kwanza Hall presented a Proclamation of the City of Atlanta to NACA for promoting a prosperous relationship between the City of Atlanta and cities in China.
