NACA Sponsored the International Women’s Forum’s 2014 Hall of Fame and Gala

On Oct. 31, 2014, Friday, global women leaders from 30+ countries came together to attend the International Women’s Forum’s Hall of Fame and Gala held at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta. As Sponsor of the IWF International Hall of Fame, NACA board members and advisors joined the gala.

The IWF Hall of Fame celebrates the enduring contributions of the world’s top women leaders. The Hall of Fame honorees included former Georgia and United States First Lady Rosalynn Carter. Mrs. Carter is a founder of the Carter Center, as well as the Chairwoman of the Mental Health Task Force. She was given the 2014 IWF Leading Light Award. Mrs. Carter has committed her life to improving the health and well-being of those with mental illnesses. The Hall of Fame honorees also included Olga Maria del Carmen Sanchez Cordero, the ninth woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court of Mexico. She was named by the Forbes magazine as one of the 50 most powerful women in Mexico. Another honoree, Irish Maureen Harding Clark, served as judge at the United Nations War Crimes Tribunal and one of the 18 judges of the International Criminal Court. The honorees also included Gale Anne Hurd, a producer of Academy Award-winning films and Emmy-winning programs. The honorees made splendid speeches. They made the audience laugh and applause with their wit. They talked about female experience and accomplishments, which greatly inspired the audience.

Also, nine honorees received the 2014 Women Who Make A Difference Award. They are: Jan Blomstrann, chairwoman and CEO of Renewable NRG Systems and a member of IWF Vermont; Ophelia Cheung, founding executive director of the Consumer Council (IWF Hong Kong); Linda Davis, chair of the board at CS Ranch (IWF New Mexico); Ann Drake, chairman and CEO of DSC Logistics (IWF Chicago and IWF Florida); Heidi Kuhn, founder and CEO of Roots of Peace (IWF Northern California); Chua Sock Koong, group CEO of Singapore Telecommunications Limited (IWF Singapore); Zanele Mbeki, founder and patron of the Women’s Development Banking Trust and former First Lady of South Africa (IWF South Africa); Teresa Valdes-Fauli Weintraub, president and CEO of Fiduciary Trust International of the South (IWF Florida); and Carol B. Tomé, chief financial officer and vice president of corporate services of The Home Depot (IWF Georgia). It is worth mentioning that Danai Gurira, who played Michonne in the popular show “The Walking Dead”, also attended the event, urging people to continue focusing on Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by a terrorist group.

The Georgia State University Symphony Orchestra performed for the event. The guests immersed themselves in the beautiful melodies. “The Mariachi Amigoz” performed in honor of Justice Olga Maria del Carmen Sanchez Cordero

Founded in 1982 in the United States, the IWF has grown across 6 continents into 33 nations. There are more than 5,500 women leaders participating in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and North America. The IWF’s World Leadership Conference aims to build a global coalition of women, to promote women’s rights and to improve women’s status in the global political, economic and social arenas.

International Women’s Forum (IWF) will be a number of outstanding women come together to provide a platform for the exchange of global vision, is committed to enhancing women’s leadership skills, cultivate future women leaders. This Chinese American Association (NACA) “architecture and American Bridge, train future leaders, service back to the community,” the three purposes similar to, Avenue Tonggui in a multicultural convergence exchange.

Just like the IWF advancing opportunities for women and to build better leadership for our changing world, NACA is similarly devoted to building a diversified multicultural society by “Bridging cultures, Building leaders, and Benefiting communities”.

全美华人协会赞助并出席2014年度国际妇女论坛名人堂及欢庆晚会

2014年10月31日,星期五,来自30多个国家的全球女性领导人欢聚一堂,共同庆祝在亚特兰大市中心Marriott Marquis酒店盛大举行的国际妇女论坛名人堂及欢庆晚会(the IWF International Hall of Fame and Gala)。作为国际妇女论坛名人堂的赞助者之一,全美华人协会(NACA)的董事会成员和顾问出席了欢庆晚会。

此次名人堂获奖者包括前乔治亚州和美国第一夫人Rosalynn Carter。卡特夫人是卡特中心的创始人之一,同时也是卡特中心精神健康委员会的主席。她被授予2014年国际妇女论坛领军人物奖。卡特夫人说,精神健康领域取得了巨大的成就,但仍任重而道远。名人堂获奖者还包括Olga Maria del Carmen Sanchez Cordero,墨西哥最高法院的第九位女性大法官,福布斯杂志提名的墨西哥最具影响力的50名妇女之一;爱尔兰的Maureen Harding Clark,她担任联合国战争罪法庭法官,并曾任国际刑事法院18名来自世界各地的法官之一;以及Gale Anne Hurd,成功的美国女制片人,她制作的电影和节目曾获奥斯卡奖及艾美奖。获奖者们的发言精彩幽默,不时激起阵阵笑声、掌声。当她们结合自身经历与成就,谈起女性的事业、社会角色和影响力时,更唤起众多与会者的深深共鸣。

同时,这次活动还颁发了2014“女性改变世界”奖。九位获奖者分别是:Jan Blomstrann,可再生NRG系统公司董事长和首席执行官,同时也是佛蒙特州IWF的一员;Ophelia Cheung,香港消费者委员会的创始人、执行总监(IWF香港);Linda Davis,CS牧场董事会主席(IWF新墨西哥州);Ann Drake,DSC物流公司主席兼首席执行官(IWF芝加哥和IWF佛罗里达州);Heidi Kuhn,非盈利组织“和平根基”的创始人及首席执行官(IWF北加州);Chua Sock Koong,新加坡电信有限公司集团CEO(IWF新加坡);Zanele Mbeki,妇女发展银行信托的创始人,南非前第一夫人(IWF南非);Teresa Valdes-Fauli Weintraub,南方信托国际的总裁兼首席执行官(IWF佛罗里达州);和Carol B. Tomé,Home Depot公司首席财务官兼企业服务副总裁(IWF乔治亚州)。值得一提的是,热门电视剧《行尸走肉》中人气角色“刀女”米琼恩的扮演者Danai Gurira也出席了活动,利用她的影响力呼吁大家继续关注被恐怖组织绑架的尼日利亚女学生们。

会场的声光效果美轮美奂,整个夜晚沉浸在由乔治亚州立大学交响乐团带来的优美旋律中。The Mariachi Amigoz乐队还专门为墨西哥最高法院大法官Olga Maria del Carmen Sanchez Cordero演奏了乐曲。

国际妇女论坛(IWF)创立于1982年,会员包括来自六大洲33个国家的5000多名杰出女性。国际妇女论坛旨在构筑全球女性联盟,促使世界各地在政治、经济等领域富有声望和影响力的女性领导人建立联系,促进妇女权益,提高女性在全球政治、经济和社会活动中的地位。于每年十月举行的国际妇女论坛世界领袖会议是一个大规模、高规格的全球领袖活动,吸引了世界各地的女性领袖和专家共襄盛举。
