On Friday, August 8, 2008 at 8:00 p.m., more than 70 members and friends of the National Association of Chinese Americans (NACA) celebrated the XXIX Olympics Opening Ceremony at NACA Atlanta headquarters in Dunwoody, GA.

While the breathtaking opening ceremony for the 2008 Summer Olympics was being broadcasted on TV, NACA members and guests came together to celebrate this special occasion by watching the masterful blending of the major Chinese contributions to the world-compass, paper, printing, and gunpowder, and the spectacular special-effects using modern technologies!

Highlights of this celebration:
o The 8:00 p.m. champagne toast
o The Olympics trivia with prizes
o The local NBC affiliate interviewing jubilant NACA members
o The interviews conducted by CCTV from China
o And many more

Members and guests were delighted with a mixture of delicious foods and Chinese beer!

Beijing Olympic organizers dazzled an audience of 91,000 at the Bird’s Nest stadium with another estimated 1 billion watching on television. To the person, each NACA member expressed with heartfelt emotion, the pride they felt for the Chinese people as the host nation for this spectacular event. The NACA Atlanta headquarters was filled with pride, joy, excitement, and accomplishment of an extremely successful Olympic Opening.

Through the opening ceremony, China is showing the world the progress it is making and the richness of its culture, while displaying deep acknowledgement of the Olympic spirit of peace and cooperation. The Olympics of 2008 represent a fulfilled dream and a moment of glory for mankind to share with the world!
