NACA Holds 2015 Annual Meeting and Board of Directors Election
On Saturday, June 20, 2015, the National Association of Chinese Americans (“NACA”) held its 2015 annual meeting at Super Hibachi Buffet Restaurant to elect its Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 term. Approximately sixty NACA members attended the meeting. NACA’s President, Mr. Steven Gu, thanked members, friends and family for their participation and support of NACA during the past year and promised more quality programs and events for the coming year to benefit members and achieve NACA’s missions.
NACA members cast their ballots and elected the following members to serve on the 2015-2016 Board of Directors: Steven Gu, Ricardo Hubler, Celena Xu, Li Zheng, Charlene Fang, Gene Hanratty, Jin Jin, Ethel Mar, Ran Tao, Nikki Yu, Leona Hu, Maggie Mers, Paula Wang, Mike Deng, and Jin Lian.
Special Speaker, Robert Wells, made a presentation about his recently published book, Voices from the Bottom of the South China Sea. This book is about 19th Century Chinese immigration from Guangdong Province through Hong Kong to California, representing exciting new history for the Hong Kong, Asia-Pacific and Chinese studies field. Established in 1980, NACA strives to achieve its mission of “bridging cultures, building leaders, and benefiting communities” by organizing and sponsoring activities that promote cultural, educational, scientific and business relations and exchanges between U.S. and China. It also encourages Chinese-Americans to participate in the American political process while preserving their Chinese heritage in the American culture.
全美华人协会成功举办2015换届选举年会
全美华人协会（NACA）于2015年6月20日在Super Hibachi Buffet餐厅成功举办了换届选举年会。根据全美华人协会章程，本次会议选举出了新一届理事会成员。 会议由现任会长顾振华主持。他首先感谢了各位会员及家属对全美华人协会工作的鼎力支持，全体会员及家属的团结赋予了全美华人协会高度的凝聚力，随后他回顾了全美华人协会去一年来的工作，并表示全美华协会将继续为中美友好继续努力。
各位候选人向会员们进行了诚挚而精彩的自我介绍。随后，经会员投票，本次会议选举出了新一届理事会成员： Here is the new board, their Chinese Name. I am sure you know Charlene Fang Chinese. 本次年会还特别邀请到了《南海海底的声音》一书的作者，Robert Wells 先生作为演讲嘉宾。他的这本书讲述了19世纪中国移民从广东省途经香港辗转来到美国加州的故事。该书配以详尽的史料和丰富的图例，代表了香港、亚太和中国研究领域令人兴奋的新研究方向。 过去的一年里，全美华人协会的各项工作取得了不俗的成绩；未来的一年中，全美华人协会将一如既往，为发展中美关系和服务华人社区贡献力量。在全球经济一体化的大背景下，全美华人协会作为较有影响力的华人社团，愿做华人社区团结一致的纽带、联系华人与祖国的桥梁，致力于促进华人团结互助，弘扬中华文化，推动华人社区的繁荣与发展，增进中美友好往来。
