NACA Celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival at Georgia Tech’s First Mid-Autumn Festival Banquet

Dating back over 3,000 years, the Mid-Autumn Festival traditionally celebrates the gathering of family and friends to indulge in moon cakes while admiring the bright harvest moon. In celebration of one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture, NACA members joined the Georgia Tech Chinese Friendship Association (GT CFA) and other special guests and students at the Georgia Tech student center on September 27, 2010 for their very first Mid-Autumn Banquet.

The banquet began with a warm welcome and introduction by the Georgia Tech Chinese Friendship Association’s President, Zhengqin Fan, followed by a speech by Georgia Tech President Dr. G.P. “Bud” Peterson. A lively lion dance troup officially commenced the program of events that followed a buffet dinner. Students from Georgia Tech and Emory performed thoughout the evening with Chinese song and dance, piano solos and performances featuring traditional Chinese instruments.
