Renan has joined the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) as director of economic analysis since October 2007. USAPEEC is a national non-profit trade association whose members account for more than 95 percent of all U.S. poultry and egg exports. Based in Stone Mountain, Georgia, USAPEEC has 15 international offices in major export markets. At USAPEEC, Renan focuses mainly on economic analysis projects related to U.S. trade in poultry and egg products.
Renan comes to USAPEEC from North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, where he worked as a research assistant professor in the university’s Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics. At NDSU from May 2005 to Sep 2007, Renan published peer-reviewed articles in various journals including Contemporary Economic Policy, China Economic Review, Journal of Economic Development, Journal of Agricultural and Applied Economics, andApplied Economic, etc. and prepared a number of research papers for professional meetings.
A native of the Fujian province in China, Renan received a doctorate in agricultural economics from Purdue University in May 2005. His Ph.D. dissertation “China’s Agricultural Trade: An Optimal Tariff Framework Perspective” was published as a book by the Scholar’s Press in March 2014.
Renan has become a NACA member ever since he moved here in Atlanta 11 years ago. He also served as a NACA board member for a few years in the past. Renan has other volunteer experiences as well (e.g. served as an assistant Cub Scout den-leader and served on his community’s pool committee). His favorite free-time activities include swimming, ice-skating, learning tai chi, running, singing, and reading, etc. He is married with three children.
