An upcoming Independent Chinese Cinema series will be held on April 2nd through the 16th, co-presented by the High Museum and Georgia Tech's School of Literature, Communication, and Culture.
Description:
China. Youth. Pain. Hope. Migration. Home. Education. Work. Reality. Dream. Those are some of the key themes and central sentiments you will discover in the three gems selected from the increasingly prominent corpus of independent Chinese cinema. Through them we hope to offer a brief yet fruitful insight in Chinese society today, as updated as within the past decade, and try together to understand and perhaps share the country's changes, charms, and challenges as experienced and contemplated by the Chinese not only as groups but also as individuals. Please encourage your friends, family, students and/or children (teenage or older as there are subtitles) to come. Among other reasons, you need to watch SENIOR YEAR if you have wondered about the recent Superior Chinese Tiger Mother controversy, and yes, SUZHOU RIVER makes a beautiful date movie whose stylistic virtuoso is comparable to that of Hong Kong's Wong Kar-wai.
