NACA attended White House Business Council / Business Forward Meeting

On February 28, 2012, Lani Wong, Chair of NACA, joined a more than 30 Atlanta business and civic leaders delegation led by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed for a White House Business Council/Business Forward meeting in Washington, D.C., to discuss initiatives around spurring job creation and economic growth with officials in the administration of President Barack Obama, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The White House Business Council (WHBC) and Business Forward, an association of U.S. companies with the goal of introducing more business leaders to the policymaking process, have partnered on a series of events which bring local business and civic leaders from across the country to the White House to engage in a conversation about job creation and American economic competitiveness with senior Administration officials. The Obama Administration selected Atlanta as one of the cities for this series.

The purpose of these meetings at the White House is three-fold: to cultivate relationships with a defined set of local opinion leaders in communities across the country; to engage in a conversation about concrete ways that the Obama Administration can partner with local business and civic leaders to create jobs; and to provide a forum where local business leaders can connect to federal resources that can help them grow and hire.
